The Pros and Cons of Cosmetic Tattooing

Did you ever have those moments where you wish you would just wake up effortlessly made up in the morning? Don’t you want to no longer spend hours on the mirror trying to perfect that barely there look?

But in reality we just want to look as presentable as possible even when trying to go get a latte. For those who don’t want to fuss over too much make-up but still want to look fab, you might want to consider permanent makeup or cosmetic tattooing. But before doing so, it would be smart to first weigh the pros and cons of the procedure.

Pros

A good thing about cosmetic tattoo is that it can be applied for various purposes. It can help camouflage any area that has been affected by skin diseases, and to reduce the appearance of scars which resulted from scars, burns, surgery, accidents and the concealment of any repair to certain congenital disorders.
Also, there are certain areas where you might have certain bald areas on your head, moustache or your body, and then cosmetic tattooing can very well cover it. It can very well imitate hair strands, which can also do the finishing touches on hair transplant surgery. In fact, this procedure was actually originally developed way back in the 1980’s to fill in the eyebrows of those suffering from alopecia.

A permanent makeup can help define a person’s facial features better. For instance, it helps to line the eyes better, improve the shape of the eyebrows, and make lip colour much enhanced.  It can also help individuals who are cancer survivors; those suffering from Parkinson’s disease and arthritis overcome the trouble of applying makeup.

Through a thorough consultation with the tattoo artist, you can both come up with the right color that you want and would suit you best.

Cons

However, there is also a downside to this procedure. For instance, the color can fade in a year or a couple more, which is why you might need to have it re-colored. Also, permanent makeup can be difficult to remove, and would require several expensive treatments to complete the process.

Another thing that may be of concern is allergic reaction created by the dye that is used. It might cause an itchy rash which can appear years after the procedure was done. But allergic reactions are rare and patients are required to undergo a patch test first before anything is carried out.

It is also important that the equipment used is not contaminated. Getting this procedure done from shady places or less competent cosmetic tattoo professionals have the possibility of exposing patients to contracting blood-borne diseases such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C, tuberculosis, or tetanus.

For those who use cosmetic tattoo to conceal certain scars on the face or any part of the body, it may not really work on raised or keloidal scars.

It is also true that the procedure can cause certain discomfort which is basically similar to getting a tattoo done. But you can somehow brave the pain by with the help of topical anesthetics.

You must also be aware that when you have a cosmetic tattoo done, you might want to steer clear from microdermabrasion procedures, sun tanning or frequent swims because it can cause the pigmentation to lighten prematurely.

Before you finally go on deciding about cosmetic tattoo, weigh the advantages and disadvantages first to see if this works well for your preferences or not. And also should you decide to get it, be sure to have it done by a reputable cosmetic tattooist.
